install/opening - Emily Fox

Continuing Along

Here are some photos from my show that I took. Wish I took some during install and after deinstalling... minor incident happened with my shelves but everything worked out in the end.

To further along with all the stuff that I have, I have decided to make a product catalog to advertise the products. Posters were a nice way to display it, but I wanted to make a book specifically of these designed packaging (would also make a nice separate print portfolio).

This is just the cover and idea of how I want the magazine to be. I will be taking nicer product pictures to use, along with new images to go along with each products.

Creature Comfort Opening- Bollinger

I took some photos from my senior design thesis show, along with photos throughout the process of the install. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience and I enjoyed being able to communicate to people what my project was about.
Day one:

Painstakingly installed the 8 foot bar along the top and began to grid out my pictures.

Day two:

Nailed all of the pictures fully, hung the strings from eyelets, and applied the weights.

Day three:

I fixed all of the labels to the weights, installed vinyl, and painted the beam at the top.

New Stuff

Continuing with the concept of modularity I have created this poster based on the template that will be used for the next shape mesh I fabricate.

Gallery Installation

This past weekend was the gallery installation showcasing the work produced in this class. I spent an average of 6 hours each day hanging work and making adjustments. Surprisingly there were few negative variables, which made the install process much easier. These are some photos take during the install.

Fiber of Memory

I have been thinking a lot and have changed thoughts for my show so many times. I went from just making paper from clothing of people that had stories behind it to just clothing from my grammie to now making the paper from clothing from my grammie, my mom, and myself. Making this piece almost like generations with the different paper. Having a loved one pass you keep things from them to remember them, for example clothing. I had clothing from my grammie who passed away that would just lay around but couldn't get rid of them because they were a part of her. That is when the paper making thought came into mind, having the paper from her clothing but I can make things from it or simply have a framed piece of it hanging in my house. I am now working on making a booklet of the paper and making squares of the clothing I made the paper with.
